About me
Hi, I’m Wen—artist, illustrator, and the human behind Tomatowen! 🍅
Since I was little, I’ve always dreamed of becoming an artist. Drawing has been my favorite way to explore the world, tell stories, and bring joy to others. Whether it’s a funny cat sticker, or a playful postcard, I love creating designs that make people smile.
I’m currently studying Collaborative Industrial Design at Aalto University in Finland, and that has shaped the way I approach my art—not just as something beautiful, but also functional and meaningful. I enjoy adding little surprises to my designs, like interactivity or clever twists that make everyday objects more fun to use.
How Tomatowen started
For a long time, I thought it was impossible to turn my passion into a career. Everything changed when I joined the Aalto ARTS Christmas Market and sold my designs for the first time. Seeing people enjoy and buy my art gave me the courage to keep going, and I haven’t stopped since!
Tomatowen was born out of that moment: a personal, growing collection of illustrations, products, and experiences that reflect my love for creativity, cuteness, and a bit of silliness.
What makes Tomatowen special?
Tomatowen is all about spreading joy through thoughtful design. My work combines visual charm with a designer’s touch—because I believe even small things, like a sticker or notepad, can brighten your day if they’re made with love.
Every product starts as a simple sketch, either on paper or in Procreate, and is brought to life using tools like Procreate, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, my home printer, and plotter. Everything is designed and often handmade by me, from the first sketch to the final product. I experiment a lot with materials, formats, and ideas to make sure each item is something truly unique.
